35 Mangorei Road, Strandon, New Plymouth, Taranaki, 4312, New Zealand
OMAHANUI – This icon of a past small hospital that has been closed since 2016 is up for Tender.
The time is now for this site to be repurposed for the modern world. A historic pearl with upside, subdivide, redevelop or land bank. Potential uses include a backpackers, motel, residential sections or an extended family home. Indeed the property offers a host of options considering the building’s heritage, land size and brilliant Strandon location.
Recent history – Owned and operated by one local family since 1972 Omahanui has been part of the New Plymouth community since constructed in the 1900’s as a private residence and in the 1950s (approx.) opened as a Rest and Convalescent home. Purchased in 1972 by Patricia Stevenson (Wesley) to provide a very personal homelike environment for its residents and in 1985 Omahanui changed its focus to specialise solely in the care of people with Dementia.
