1/439 Point Chevalier Road, Point Chevalier, Auckland, 1022, New Zealand

We asked the owners what they love about the home and this is what they told us:

We loved the house from the first time we saw it; a beautiful art deco bungalow which had been a bit neglected over the years. What started out as just a quick coat of paint to refresh became a full renovation during lockdown.

Everything we did was to keep it fresh, light and modern while still maintaining the beauty of the original house. The biggest change was when we took the original Matai floors back to a lighter colour, and putting down a concrete carport with automatic gate. It’s fantastic having 2 secure off street car parks.

It’s an easy home to live in, the flow from the living area to the large deck/garden is fantastic and we utilise the deck all year round. The addition of the umbrella has added shade and shelter in all weather.

The kitchen has been a well-used space (we love to cook) and it’s easy to work in and the rotating corner pantry is brilliant for easy access to extra storage.

We added another heat pump in the front bedroom which makes it easy to heat or cool the house quickly.

We added to the attic space and it’s been invaluable having that extra storage as well as the under deck storage for outdoor equipment. The sheds have been a godsend during our renovation and continue to be great to store tools, paints etc… for any ongoing maintenance. We even fitted a sneaky beer fridge into one of them!

We have loved living in Point Chevalier. There’s a walkway to the beach across the road, perfect for a quick dip or sunset walk along the beach. We walk around Coyle Park every day and the amazing Beach Cafe is only a 2 minute walk away. For working in the city it’s easy using the 101 bus route that takes you to the city in 20mins with the bus stop close by.
